Job Description

The Interconnection Project Manager DG at New Leaf Energy will coordinate interconnection-related efforts across various departments, manage utility communications, and oversee the interconnection lifecycle for clean energy projects. This role requires strong project management skills and a technical understanding of utility requirements to ensure successful project development and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all utility communications.
  • Lead interconnection due diligence and research for new market entry.
  • Create and maintain utility region-specific project management tools.
  • Own the full interconnection lifecycle and communicate risks to the development team.
  • Proactively monitor utility performance and negotiate positive outcomes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on utility behavior and tariff guidelines.
  • Handle project-level disputes and negotiate outcomes with utilities.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement countermeasures.
  • Own interconnection application submittal packages and coordinate with teams.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting related to utility payments.
  • Evaluate, onboard, and manage third-party consultants.
  • Coordinate signatures, approvals, and payments for applications and agreements.

Requirements

  • 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in energy and direct electric utility
  • Bachelor's degree required; Engineering, Policy, Finance, Business, Environmental Science, or Project Management preferred
  • Strong project management, reporting, and technical skills, preferably in Salesforce and Smartsheet
  • Understanding of financial accounting, cost-benefit analysis, and utility payment policies
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to interpret utility feedback and understand implications on development, engineering, and construction efforts
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools, value stream mapping, and change management
