Job Description
The Design Engineer I at New Leaf Energy will be responsible for designing and reviewing commercial, government, and utility solar PV projects, supporting multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborating with a team of engineers and project developers to ensure compliance with design standards and permitting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, review, and entitle designs for commercial, government, and utility solar PV projects.
- Evaluate and perform feasibility analysis on potential sites.
- Collaborate with project design, electrical, and civil engineering teams to create site use permit plan sets and bid level drawings.
- Ensure designs comply with New Leaf Energy Design Standards and train new employees on these standards.
- Complete the review process for each job through milestone drawing releases.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts, focusing on training materials.
- Handle administration of permitting and bidding, advising the project team on design production modeling considerations.
- Contribute to the design of infrastructure and provide new perspectives.
Requirements
- B.S. degree required
- 1-3 years experience preferred
- Completion of at least 40 NABCEP credits preferred
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and tasks
- Solid written and oral communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate design concepts to other internal New Leaf Energy stakeholders
- Computer proficiency with AutoCAD, PV Case, PVSyst
