Job Description
A Strategic Sourcing Specialist responsible for leading logistics strategies, managing transportation and warehousing partnerships, negotiating costs, and developing processes to optimize supply chain efficiency for a solar tracker company.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead pre-sales logistics requirements and strategy.
- Manage transportation partners and warehousing activities.
- Drive cost reductions through current and new logistics partnerships.
- Manage trade, customs, and policy compliance, including tariff and duty mitigation.
- Negotiate costs with suppliers and create delivery schedules.
- Develop and analyze data using ERP and other resources to optimize logistics processes.
- Create RFQs, award logistics contracts, and oversee logistics operations.
- Develop documentation and processes to scale logistics operations.
- Create and manage a portal for sharing logistics data with stakeholders.
- Analyze logistics input/output, generate reports, and streamline processes.
- Assess and decide on warehousing requirements for current and future products.
- Lead meetings with internal teams, suppliers, and customers, organizing actions and notes.
Requirements
- Experience leading pre-sales logistics requirements and strategy, including efforts with transportation partners and warehousing.
- Ability to drive cost reductions through current and new logistics partnerships.
- Experience managing trade, customs, and policy with customs and border patrol, and providing suggestions on tariff and duty mitigation.
- Proficiency in meeting with suppliers, negotiating costs, and creating and analyzing data through ERP and other resources.
- Experience running RFQs, creating delivery schedules, and awarding logistics contracts to partners.
- Ability to develop and document processes and systems to scale logistics operations, including creating and managing a portal for data sharing with customers and partners.
- Strong analytical skills to analyze input and output data, create reports, and streamline logistics processes throughout the company.
- Experience developing and communicating deficiencies and driving continuous partner management to improve long-term costing and efficiencies with logistical suppliers.
- Ability to make decisions regarding warehousing requirements for current and future products.
- Willingness to take on additional sourcing responsibilities across various categories as needed.
- Ability to work collaboratively with supply chain, engineering, sales, leadership, and suppliers.
- Proven leadership skills to lead meetings, organize thoughts, and communicate open items and actions to stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel at least 10-20% of the time for company off-sites, conferences, trade shows, site visits, and other events.
