Job Description

The Accounting Manager at LevelTen Energy is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting functions, including the monthly close process, financial statement preparation, revenue recognition, and internal controls, while leading a team and supporting system improvements in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close process in accordance with US GAAP and internal policies
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses
  • Manage revenue recognition and accounts receivable for customer contracts per ASC 606
  • Assess, document, and defend revenue recognition policies, including nonstandard contracts
  • Track and validate contract milestones to support invoicing
  • Design, implement, and oversee processes and controls for revenue recognition and order-to-cash cycle
  • Improve and refine accounting processes and systems for scalability and efficiency
  • Lead external audits, including financial statement and Employee Benefit Plan audits
  • Support cross-functional teams and special projects within Accounting and Finance
  • Monitor and account for sales commissions according to ASC 606
  • Complete sales tax reporting requirements
  • Supervise and mentor the Accounts Payable Specialist

Requirements

  • CPA designation (Active or Inactive)
  • At least 5 years of related accounting experience
  • At least 2 years of experience leading and managing teams
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles
  • Deep knowledge of revenue recognition under ASC 606 and other general accounting concepts
  • Experience with Employee Benefit Plan audits
  • Sales tax reporting experience
  • Ability to discuss GAAP and revenue recognition topics with non-finance stakeholders
  • Experience managing and preparing for external annual financial statement audits and EBP plan audits, including timely submission of PBC schedules and responses to inquiries
  • Supervisory experience, specifically supervising and mentoring an Accounts Payable Specialist
  • Excellent computer skills with MS Office Software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
