Job Description
A Production Biologist is responsible for ensuring the health and wellbeing of Dutch Yellowtail Kingfish in a high-tech recirculating aquaculture system by monitoring fish behavior, managing feeding and filtration systems, assisting with fish transfers, and maintaining life support systems to promote optimal growth conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe and report on fish health and behavior
- Manage feed systems according to programming and rearing strategy
- Manage filtration and Life Support Systems
- Assist with fish transfers and grading
- Identify and report faults in pumps, plumbing, water flow, and air supply
- Maintain and optimize food safety standards
Requirements
- Provide high quality care to the fish to ensure the health and wellbeing of Dutch Yellowtail Kingfish within a high tech Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) Facility in Kats, Zeeland.
- Maintain and monitor production systems, including managing feed systems according to programming and rearing strategy, managing filtration systems, maintaining Life Support Systems, and identifying and reporting faults in pumps, plumbing, water flow, and air supply.
- Observe and report fish health and behavior regularly.
- Assist with fish transfers and grading procedures.
- Ensure and optimize food safety standards are maintained.
- Work in a safe and healthy manner for both animals and people across all departments.
- Work in day shifts, night shifts, and weekend shifts, with regular workdays starting at 7:00 AM.
- Possess the necessary tools and receive proper training from experienced aquaculture professionals to perform job duties effectively.
- Residency requirement: Applicants must be residents of the Netherlands or EU countries.
- Experience in aquaculture or related fields is implied as necessary for providing high quality care and maintaining systems, though specific years of experience are not explicitly stated.
