Job Description
A Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing pharmacy inventory, and providing customer service in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescription medications accurately
- Assist pharmacists in managing medication inventory
- Provide customer service and answer patient inquiries
Requirements
- Must have a valid pharmacy technician license or certification as required by state or local regulations
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting
- Proficiency in using pharmacy management software and electronic health records systems
- Ability to accurately measure, mix, and label medications according to prescriptions
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in dispensing medications and maintaining records
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and patients
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks such as counting pills and packaging medications
