Job Description

The Staff Materials Engineer at iota Biosciences will be responsible for developing and optimizing materials used in innovative bioelectronic medical implants, contributing to the design and success of cutting-edge Class III medical devices that leverage ultrasonic energy for therapeutic applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop bioelectronic implantable devices leveraging ultrasonic energy technology
  • Contribute to the success and improvement of Class III medical implants
  • Collaborate on the expansion of the company's proprietary technology for clinical applications

Requirements

  • Experience in materials engineering or related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in medical device or bioelectronic device development.
  • Proficiency in designing, analyzing, and testing materials used in implantable medical devices, with a focus on bioelectronic applications.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory requirements and standards applicable to Class III medical implants.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance to develop and optimize materials for implantable devices.
  • Experience with ultrasonic energy technology or similar advanced communication and power transfer methods for implantable devices is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence design decisions and contribute to the success of pioneering medical implant projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to perform laboratory work, including handling small components and operating specialized equipment.
