Job Description
The RF Engineer designs, tests, and supports the development of RF and millimeter wave subsystems for communication, radar, and sensing applications, working closely with a team of scientists and engineers to solve technical problems and contribute to research and development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, integrate, and test RF and millimeter wave subsystems
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop RF subsystems for communication, radar, and sensing applications
- Solve customer problems related to RF systems
- Perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits and RF components
- Write invention disclosures and publish technical papers
- Brief customers and participate in proposal activities
- Operate complex electronic and RF test equipment
- Interact professionally with program managers, colleagues, and customers
Requirements
- Contribute technical expertise and work within a focused team that designs, fabricates, integrates and tests RF and millimeter wave subsystems.
- Work closely with scientists and engineers to provide support in developing state of the art RF subsystems for communication, radar and sensing applications.
- Solve customer problems related to RF systems.
- Write invention disclosures, publish papers, brief customers, participate in proposal activities, and assist in marketing HRL expertise.
- Some experience with modeling and simulating electronic components, RF electronics and circuits is desired.
- Experience with different families of FPGAs, DSPs, or microcontrollers is desired.
- A working familiarity with Python, C, and MATLAB is required.
- Simulink experience is a plus.
- Understanding of basic circuit theory, electromagnetics, and digital signal processing is required.
- Familiarity with RF and high-speed digital test equipment is required.
- Working knowledge of RF components for communication and radar systems is a plus.
- Applicant must be able to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, and customers.
- Ability to operate complex electronic equipment is required.
- Perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits and prepare written and oral presentations.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently is required.
- Proficiency in use of computers, engineering workstations, and complex electronic equipment is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is required.
- Educational requirement: Master’s Degree with at least 1 year of experience or Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of experience.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
- US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain US Government security clearance are mandatory.
