Job Description
This entry-level position involves operating and maintaining Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) and Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) systems to produce high-performance GaN transistors, including epitaxial layer characterization, recipe development, and supporting research and production processes.
Responsibilities
- •Operate Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) and Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) systems to deposit GaN transistors
- •Perform epitaxial layer characterization and wafer fabrication functions
- •Develop and optimize new epitaxial recipes
- •Conduct regular maintenance of epitaxy systems and supporting equipment
- •Troubleshoot and manage tool operation, inventory, and spares
- •Support research and development programs requiring new process development
Requirements
- •Operate Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) and/or Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) systems used to deposit GaN transistors.
- •Perform epitaxial layer characterization, perform epi-associated wafer fabrication functions, and develop new epi recipes.
- •Perform regular maintenance of the epitaxy systems and supporting equipment such as Rouging Pumps, Cryo pumps, Turbo pumps with the help of others during maintenance campaigns.
- •Tool ownership responsibilities including operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, inventory management, and spares management are required.
- •Support new and existing programs that require research-level processes to be developed.
- •Identify and solve complex GaN MBE and MOCVD-related problems.
- •Generate key technical reports related to epitaxial growth and characterization.
- •Employ analytical methods to solve technical problems related to epitaxial growth.
- •Possess basic familiarity with semiconductor materials engineering and characterization techniques.
- •Familiarity with epi growth tools such as MOCVD and MBE is a plus.
- •Familiarity with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) hardware and good UHV practices is a plus.
- •Have excellent problem-solving skills with good mechanical aptitude and strong organizational skills.
- •Ability to work well in a creative team environment, possess excellent communication skills, and have willingness to train or mentor others.
- •Ability to work effectively with others and individually.
- •Hold a B. Sc. or M. Sc. in Science or Engineering.
- •Must be able to perform tasks safely in a lab environment.
- •Must be able to climb and work on ladders.
- •Ability to lift and move small to moderate sized parts during maintenance cycles.
- •U.S. Citizenship status is required.
