Job Description
The Senior Manager - Technical Accounting at HASI is responsible for evaluating and applying accounting treatments for various investments and complex transactions, supporting quarterly close activities, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls within a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and determine the appropriate accounting treatment for investments and complex transactions.
- Support quarterly close activities, including journal entries for equity investments, CECL analysis, and footnote development.
- Collaborate with departments and joint venture partners to assess transaction impacts and prepare equity income/loss allocations.
- Research and ensure compliance with US GAAP and accounting standards.
- Draft and review accounting memos and policies to document technical accounting conclusions.
- Contribute to internal controls and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 requirements.
- Create process efficiencies through automation tools.
Requirements
- Six (6) years of relevant accounting and industry experience, including experience with US GAAP and technical accounting research.
- CPA certification is required.
- Public accounting experience working with publicly traded companies subject to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control requirements and 10Q and 10K filing deadlines.
- Experience with US GAAP codification sections ASC 810, ASC 323, ASC 310, ASC 860, ASC 842, and ASC 606.
- Demonstrated experience in drafting accounting memos and accounting policies.
- Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of the hypothetical liquidation at book value method for equity method investment income loss allocations.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency in Excel with an understanding of data analysis techniques.
- Dependable and reliable, with the ability to take initiative and work independently without close supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative, entrepreneurial environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to rapidly and accurately analyze complex information and communicate it concisely.
- Interest in sustainability and related topics.
- Work authorization: HASI is willing to take over sponsorship for existing H1-B visas for exceptional talent, but cannot provide new H-1B sponsorship at this time.
