Job Description
The position involves supporting the investment, financing, and management of renewable energy projects such as wind, solar, and storage, including financial modeling, due diligence, transaction execution, and portfolio oversight within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage financial models to analyze and structure renewable energy investments and assess risks.
- Support transaction execution and due diligence for debt, equity investments, and acquisitions, including analyzing project agreements.
- Collaborate with finance, accounting, and engineering teams to develop assumptions for investment models.
- Evaluate portfolio diversification and concentration risks to inform investment decisions.
- Participate in all phases of investment execution, from qualification to documentation closing.
- Assist in financing processes for project finance transactions, including document negotiation and investor due diligence.
- Liaise with corporate due diligence teams regarding project and portfolio investments.
- Provide investment expertise to support portfolio asset management and commercial decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year institution.
- At least 3 years of experience in finance in the renewable energy sector, ideally including tax equity partnerships, project finance, and structured debt or equity finance.
- Experience in modelling, ideally involving structured debt and equity investments, including intimate knowledge of tax equity partnership flip and lease models for wind and solar assets.
- Demonstrable experience with renewable energy project underwriting and transaction document negotiation.
- Very strong MS Excel financial modeling and data mining skills, with demonstrable experience developing and managing complex financial models.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Relevant industry experience in energy, banking, tax equity equity investing, consulting, or the energy utilities sector.
- Familiarity with energy project finance transactions and documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, innovative, entrepreneurial environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including listening skills.
- Dependable and reliable, with the ability to take initiative, work independently without close supervision, and support team members.
- Work authorization to be eligible for employment; HASI is willing to take over sponsorship for existing H1-B visas for exceptional talent, but cannot provide new H-1B sponsorship at this time.
