Job Description
The Sr. Manager, AV Operations oversees the safety, performance, and efficiency of Gatik's autonomous vehicle fleets, managing daily operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to scale and optimize autonomous freight logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage autonomous vehicle fleets to ensure safe, efficient daily operations
- Drive operational performance, including safety, uptime, and customer service metrics
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align fleet operations with company goals and compliance standards
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to safety, reliability, utilization, and efficiency
- Oversee workforce planning, training, and readiness of operations teams to support scaling
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards such as DOT and FMCSA
- Develop operational playbooks, escalation procedures, and contingency plans for business continuity
- Support data collection, reporting, and feedback processes to inform engineering and product development
- Act as escalation point for operational issues and provide real-time solutions
- Represent operations in executive reviews, customer discussions, and stakeholder meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Operations, Logistics, Engineering, or related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- 7 years of experience in operations, fleet management, logistics, or program project management, ideally in transportation, technology, or autonomous systems.
- Proven leadership experience managing operations teams and large-scale programs in high-growth environments.
- Strong understanding of safety standards, compliance frameworks, and fleet performance management.
- Experience with command center operations, dispatch, or control room environments is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional priorities.
- Data-driven mindset with experience in operational reporting, KPI management, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with real-time operational decision-making.
- Flexibility to support 24/7 operations as required.
- Direct experience working with autonomous vehicle technology, robotics, or advanced mobility systems is strongly preferred.
- Ability to establish and manage KPIs to track safety, reliability, utilization, and efficiency.
- Experience in developing operational playbooks, escalation processes, and contingency models to ensure business continuity.
- Experience ensuring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and internal safety and regulatory standards.
- Experience overseeing fleet operations, data collection, and ensuring safe and efficient daily operations.
- Ability to act as a key escalation point for operational issues, providing direction and solutions in real-time.
- Experience representing operations in executive reviews, customer discussions, and external stakeholder meetings.
Benefits & Perks
Salary range of $160,000 to $230,000
Onsite work schedule, 5 days a week at Mountain View, CA
