Job Description

Factorial Energy is a pioneering U.S.-based solid-state battery company driving the future of energy storage and electrification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Factorial Energy is seeking a Formation Process Equipment Technician to join our Cheonan, South Korea site. This role is responsible for daily operation, routine preventive maintenance, on-site troubleshooting, minor optimization, and production stability support for full formation process equipment, including Electrolyte Filling, Formation Charging/Discharging, Degassing, Folding, OCV testing, and X-Ray inspection machines for silicon anode pouch cell lines. The incumbent will support pilot verification, NPI trial, and mass production ramp-up, assist equipment engineers with commissioning, parameter validation, and equipment retrofits, and ensure stable line operation in a fast-growing, cross-functional global manufacturing environment.
  • Perform daily startup inspection, standardized operation, breakdown troubleshooting, and routine preventive maintenance for full formation process equipment (Electrolyte Filling, Formation, Degassing, Folding, OCV, X-Ray) to reduce unplanned downtime and sustain line stability.
  • Complete regular equipment lubrication, fixture cleaning, component replacement, and precision calibration; accurately maintain maintenance logs, failure records, and spare part consumption data for audit traceability.
  • Adjust on-site process parameters including filling volume, formation charge-discharge curve, degassing pressure, folding precision and testing threshold to resolve common defects such as liquid leakage, poor formation activation, residual gas, folding offset and testing abnormality.
  • Support equipment FAT/SAT on-site acceptance, pilot line EVT/DVT/PVT trials, new product NPI verification, and mass production parameter iteration; assist engineers in equipment debugging and minor structural optimization.
  • Collaborate with production, process, quality, and equipment teams to handle on-site equipment abnormalities, track improvement actions, and complete CAPA closure for recurrent mechanical and electrical failures.
  • Support multi-spec pouch cell changeover, fixture replacement, and on-site process verification; collect on-site equipment pain points and feedback optimization suggestions to engineering and vendor teams.
  • Monitor real-time equipment operating status, summarize failure modes of formation & testing stations, and assist in improving line OEE and cell consistency/yield.
  • Strictly implement equipment SOPs, safety regulations, and IATF 16949 workshop management requirements to standardize daily operation, maintenance, and on-site production management.

Requirements

  • College diploma or above, major in Mechatronics, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Automation, or related technical fields.
  • 2+ years of hands-on working experience in lithium battery formation and post-process workshop, familiar with Electrolyte Filling, Formation, Degassing, Folding, OCV, and X-Ray inspection equipment.
  • Capable of independent daily maintenance, rapid breakdown diagnosis, and on-site parameter fine-tuning; familiar with basic servo motion, pneumatic control, precision testing, and machine vision principles.
  • Able to understand simple mechanical and electrical drawings, proficient in fixture assembly, disassembly and daily calibration work.
  • Familiar with workshop 5S management and equipment file sorting, capable of accurately filling shift logs, maintenance records, and abnormal handling reports.
  • Possess quick on-site response capability and good cross-department communication skills to cooperate with engineering, quality, and production teams.
  • Have basic English reading ability for equipment manuals and technical guidelines; basic Chinese communication capability is preferred.
  • Able to adapt to shift work and a mass production workshop environment, with strong safety awareness, execution, and teamwork spirit.
  • Rich practical experience in full-process formation equipment maintenance, including Electrolyte filling, formation cycling, degassing, folding, and X-ray testing processes.
  • Working experience in top-tier new energy or solid-state battery factories with formation line mass ramp-up and yield stabilization experience.
  • Familiar with silicon anode / high-expansion pouch cell formation characteristics, with relevant on-site equipment debugging and defect resolution experience.
  • Experience in pilot line trial production, equipment verification, and process transfer from lab stage to mass production.
  • Basic understanding of IATF 16949, APQP quality systems, and equipment abnormal closed-loop management logic.
  • Upgrade and retrofit mass-production final sealing, folding, and inspection equipment to improve OEE, production yield, and line capacity, and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Optimize sealing fixtures, folding structures, testing probes and machine vision parameters to stabilize production, eliminate poor sealing, folding offset, OCV testing deviation and X-ray detection errors, and support rapid multi-spec pouch cell changeover.
  • Build complete standardized equipment management systems for post-process stations, including SOPs, maintenance schedules, calibration specifications, PFMEA, control plans, and equipment failure databases.
  • Work Location: Cheonan, South Korea
