Key Responsibilities
Factorial Energy is seeking an EHS Manager to join our team in Cheonan, South Korea. This person will be responsible for leading the Environment, Health & Safety organization and driving a company-wide culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong EHS expertise, effective leadership and communication skills, and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical programs that protect people and support operational goals.
Lead and manage the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) organization and team
Establish and operate a compliance framework for the Occupational Safety and Health Act, Chemicals Control Act, and other environmental and safety regulations
Establish the safety and health management system, conduct risk assessments, and lead improvement activities
Manage environmental and safety risks related to the handling and storage of chemical substances
Manage environmental permits and emission facilities, and respond to related regulatory requirements
Establish and operate industrial accident prevention activities and emergency response systems
Respond to internal audits and external inspections (government agencies, certification bodies, etc.) related to safety and environment
Plan and conduct safety and health training programs for employees
Supervise contractor safety management and manage related communication
Report EHS performance to management and develop improvement strategies
Requirements
Have proven experience in both safety management and environmental management
10+ years of related experience, including experience as a team lead/manager
Holder of a safety- or environment-related certification (e.g., Industrial Safety Engineer, Air/Water Environment Engineer, Hazardous Materials Industrial Engineer, etc.)
In-depth understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and other relevant regulations
Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
Experience in battery manufacturing or chemical-handling manufacturing industries
Practical experience with the Chemicals Control Act, Hazardous Materials Safety Management Act, and related regulations
Experience with government affairs related to environment and safety (local government, fire department, Ministry of Environment, etc.)
Experience building/operating a safety and health management system (ISO 45001) or environmental management system (ISO 14001)
Able to communicate in English
