Job Description
This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise geospatial databases to support mission-critical applications, primarily for defense and intelligence clients, using Esri technology and best practices. The position requires collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient database solutions that enable effective spatial data management and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure database solutions for mission-critical applications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout all implementation phases including requirements, analysis, design, build, and deployment
- Configure and maintain database environments, including backup, restore, high-availability, and disaster recovery strategies
- Monitor and optimize database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies
- Implement data security measures, access controls, and ensure compliance standards are met
- Automate routine database tasks such as loading, maintenance, and monitoring to improve efficiency
- Provide technical guidance on database design, migration, and integration projects
Requirements
- 8 years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA
- Demonstrated experience with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, database maintenance, and security
- Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database
- Understanding of geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers
- US citizenship with Active or Current security clearance within 2 years of active status, specifically a Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field
