Job Description
This role involves securing and maintaining systems supporting critical Defense and Intelligence missions by applying risk management frameworks, implementing security controls, and ensuring compliance with DoD and NIST standards throughout the system lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply RMF processes to support system assessment and authorization, including control implementation and continuous monitoring
- Develop, review, and maintain security documentation such as SSPs, POA&Ms, SARs, and ATO artifacts
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and compliance scans, track remediation efforts
- Implement and validate security controls aligned with NIST 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and DoD guidance
- Support system hardening, patching, and configuration management in compliance with STIGs
- Monitor systems for security events and support incident response and risk mitigation activities
- Assess security impacts of system changes and participate in configuration control processes
- Collaborate with system engineers, administrators, and DevSecOps teams to integrate security throughout the system lifecycle
- Provide cybersecurity risk input to program leadership, Authorizing Officials, and stakeholders
Requirements
- Eight (8) years of professional experience in a similar position supporting responsibilities such as applying risk management frameworks, engineering security controls, and maintaining system authorizations for cloud and on-prem environments.
- Professional experience with RMF (Risk Management Framework), ATO (Authorization to Operate), POA&M (Plan of Action and Milestones), and ATO documentation processes.
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning and compliance tracking using ACAS and IAVM tools.
- Experience securing Linux and Windows systems, including applying STIGs, patching, and system hardening.
- Knowledge of NIST 800-series publications and incident response processes.
- Possession of DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification such as Security+, CySA+, or CISSP.
- Strong analytical, communication, and collaborative skills.
- U.S. citizenship with an active or current Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility obtained within the last 2 years.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a STEM-related field.
