Job Description
This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining a design system using Figma for Esri's web platform, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency, accessibility, and high-quality user experiences across web and mobile interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to architecting and enhancing the Figma environment, including UI kits, foundations, tokens, and component files.
- Define detailed design specifications for components, including anatomy, states, types, color, layout, and accessibility.
- Create and maintain component documentation with clear usage guidelines.
- Facilitate design reviews and incorporate feedback from internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Collaborate with researchers and UX teams to validate component usability and advocate for user-centered design.
- Provide design direction and educational demos on component usage for users and developers.
- Engage with front-end developers to ensure consistency in architecture, visuals, and interactions between Figma components and development environment.
- Participate in design system conferences and apply new practices and innovations to work.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to design critiques and reviews.
Requirements
- Five years of experience designing and delivering products for both web and mobile platforms.
- A portfolio illustrating successful management of design systems, highlighting expertise in this area.
- Proven ability to take ownership and drive results, going beyond expected duties for the success of the team and deliverables.
- Passion for continuous improvement and advocacy for leveraging innovative design and front-end practices to drive excellence.
- Ability to facilitate workshops and present to large audiences, effectively communicating design concepts and ideas.
- Experience using Figma, Figma UI Kits, adhering to established pattern libraries and required frameworks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in human-computer interaction, graphic design, or a related field.
