This role is intended for a senior Business Analyst who can operate across business process discovery, requirements engineering, data analysis, and migration validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Finance, HR, and technical stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business, functional, non-functional, reporting, and security requirements
  • Facilitate workshops to understand current-state processes, reporting needs, data warehouse usage, pain points, controls, and business objectives
  • Translate business requirements into implementation-ready specifications, including source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, business logic, exception handling, and acceptance criteria
  • Create and maintain project documentation, including process flows, data dictionaries, data models, requirements traceability matrices, report mockups, and decision logs
  • Collaborate with data engineers and subject matter experts to define business rules, resolve requirements gaps, validate assumptions, and support development planning
  • Design and coordinate validation activities for migrated data products, including tables, dimensions, facts, semantic models, and reports using reconciliation, testing, and defect tracking methodologies
  • Establish and maintain data quality, validation, parity reporting, and operational monitoring solutions using Power BI or similar analytics tools
  • Document and support governance, security, and compliance requirements, including data classifications, PII, compensation-related data, role-based access controls, row-level security, data masking, retention, lineage, and audit requirements
  • Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) activities, including test planning, script development, readiness assessments, sign-off processes, and post-migration validation support
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business and technical teams, communicating risks, managing requirement changes, and ensuring solutions align with Finance and HR business goals

Requirements

  • 5+ years of direct business analysis experience supporting data, analytics, business intelligence, or data warehouse initiatives for Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Payroll, or similarly controlled business domains
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into functional specifications, data mappings, acceptance criteria, test plans, and development-ready backlog items
  • Intermediate to advanced querying and analysis skills using T-SQL, SQL Server tools, Excel, and similar data profiling or validation approaches
  • Working knowledge of dimensional modeling concepts, semantic models, reporting layers, measures, KPIs, hierarchies, and data lineage
  • Experience supporting data validation, reconciliation, defect triage, UAT, stakeholder sign-off, and production readiness for business-critical reporting or data products
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt messaging for SMEs, engineers, product owners, managers, and executive stakeholders
  • Strong facilitation, organization, prioritization, and follow-through skills in an environment with multiple stakeholders, evolving requirements, and sensitive data constraints
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when working with restricted HR, compensation, payroll, financial, or accounting data
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this posting
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, mathematics, finance, accounting, human resources, data analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Lakehouse/Warehouse patterns, Power BI, or cloud data platform migration projects
  • Prior experience migrating or modernizing HR, Finance, Payroll, Accounting, or enterprise reporting data warehouses
  • Experience with medallion architecture concepts, source-system ingestion, bronze/silver/gold layering, dimensional models, and report modernization
  • Experience documenting security models, row-level security, role-based access controls, data masking requirements, and sensitive data handling expectations
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting concepts, HR lifecycle processes, payroll concepts, workforce reporting, or compliance-driven reporting needs
  • Working familiarity with collaboration and analysis tools such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Visio, Lucidchart, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar delivery tooling
