This role is intended for a senior Business Analyst who can operate across business process discovery, requirements engineering, data analysis, and migration validation.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Finance, HR, and technical stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business, functional, non-functional, reporting, and security requirements
Facilitate workshops to understand current-state processes, reporting needs, data warehouse usage, pain points, controls, and business objectives
Translate business requirements into implementation-ready specifications, including source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, business logic, exception handling, and acceptance criteria
Create and maintain project documentation, including process flows, data dictionaries, data models, requirements traceability matrices, report mockups, and decision logs
Collaborate with data engineers and subject matter experts to define business rules, resolve requirements gaps, validate assumptions, and support development planning
Design and coordinate validation activities for migrated data products, including tables, dimensions, facts, semantic models, and reports using reconciliation, testing, and defect tracking methodologies
Establish and maintain data quality, validation, parity reporting, and operational monitoring solutions using Power BI or similar analytics tools
Document and support governance, security, and compliance requirements, including data classifications, PII, compensation-related data, role-based access controls, row-level security, data masking, retention, lineage, and audit requirements
Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) activities, including test planning, script development, readiness assessments, sign-off processes, and post-migration validation support
Serve as the primary liaison between business and technical teams, communicating risks, managing requirement changes, and ensuring solutions align with Finance and HR business goals
Requirements
5+ years of direct business analysis experience supporting data, analytics, business intelligence, or data warehouse initiatives for Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Payroll, or similarly controlled business domains
Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into functional specifications, data mappings, acceptance criteria, test plans, and development-ready backlog items
Intermediate to advanced querying and analysis skills using T-SQL, SQL Server tools, Excel, and similar data profiling or validation approaches
Working knowledge of dimensional modeling concepts, semantic models, reporting layers, measures, KPIs, hierarchies, and data lineage
Experience supporting data validation, reconciliation, defect triage, UAT, stakeholder sign-off, and production readiness for business-critical reporting or data products
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt messaging for SMEs, engineers, product owners, managers, and executive stakeholders
Strong facilitation, organization, prioritization, and follow-through skills in an environment with multiple stakeholders, evolving requirements, and sensitive data constraints
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when working with restricted HR, compensation, payroll, financial, or accounting data

Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, mathematics, finance, accounting, human resources, data analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Lakehouse/Warehouse patterns, Power BI, or cloud data platform migration projects
Prior experience migrating or modernizing HR, Finance, Payroll, Accounting, or enterprise reporting data warehouses
Experience with medallion architecture concepts, source-system ingestion, bronze/silver/gold layering, dimensional models, and report modernization
Experience documenting security models, row-level security, role-based access controls, data masking requirements, and sensitive data handling expectations
Knowledge of financial and accounting concepts, HR lifecycle processes, payroll concepts, workforce reporting, or compliance-driven reporting needs
Working familiarity with collaboration and analysis tools such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Visio, Lucidchart, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar delivery tooling
Comfortable reviewing SQL logic, stored procedures, views, business rules, and report calculations to support requirement clarification and validation
