Job Description

A Software Development Engineer II at Esri will develop advanced GIS software solutions leveraging computer vision, AI, and geospatial data processing to extract and analyze real-world objects from various imaging sources, supporting infrastructure and asset management applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and implement computer vision and AI techniques for geospatial object extraction and change detection
  • Design and develop scalable software utilizing computer vision on diverse geospatial data types
  • Integrate and optimize computer vision and AI models into production environments ensuring performance and accuracy
  • Evaluate emerging AI and ML methods relevant to GIS and computer vision
  • Support the production deployment of algorithms and models in C and C++
  • Ensure code quality, scalability, and maintainability through best practices and code reviews
  • Contribute to system architecture and design discussions for performance-critical applications
  • Collaborate with researchers, developers, and product engineers throughout the development process

Requirements

  • Two years of professional software development experience, with a focus on AI ML and or computer vision.
  • Experience with modern computer vision models such as YOLO, SAM, DINO, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with experience using machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
  • Hands-on experience with Computer Vision and AI ML, including feature detection, segmentation, extraction, change detection, model evaluation, and training.
  • Experience in integrating models into production systems, including performance optimization and ensuring accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Python programming language.
  • Experience with C programming language, including exposure to C for performance-critical applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct, with an eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or STEM related field.

Compensation/salary range: $97,760 - $163,280 USD
Work schedule: Minimum of 80 hours of vacation leave, twelve paid holidays throughout the year
