Job Description
A technical writer responsible for creating and maintaining user assistance documentation and enablement materials for GIS software products, working closely with subject matter experts and product teams to ensure clear, consistent, and effective content that enhances the user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain user assistance documentation and enablement materials for GIS software products.
- Become a subject matter expert by supporting and documenting conceptual topics and workflows.
- Support various user assistance materials, including help guides, tutorials, blog articles, and videos.
- Manage documentation throughout the software development cycle to meet release requirements.
- Ensure consistency of content with Esri style guidelines and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Provide feedback and testing support to the product development team regarding software functionality.
- Develop and maintain relationships with delivery services, product management, and marketing teams to enhance user experience.
Requirements
- One year of professional experience in a similar position supporting responsibilities related to technical writing, documentation, or user assistance materials.
- Ability to learn and use software as a customer would to produce deliverables based on the customer experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex topics concisely, clearly, and effectively.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to manage priorities and tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or a related field.
