A Data Scientist at Esri will develop and implement machine learning and data analytics solutions to address customer challenges, leveraging spatial data and GIS workflows, while collaborating closely with clients and GIS experts to deliver innovative geospatial AI applications.
Key Responsibilities
Consult with customers to understand their needs and develop data science solutions.
Design and implement analytics systems using machine learning, statistics, and data mining techniques.
Write and maintain clean, collaborative, version-controlled code for processing big and streaming data.
Perform feature engineering, model selection, and hyperparameter tuning to optimize predictive accuracy.
Deploy machine learning models to production environments, including cloud, on-premises, or hybrid setups.
Develop reusable technical components for geospatial machine learning, demonstrations, and rapid prototyping.
Requirements
At least 1 year of professional experience in a similar position supporting responsibilities such as developing data science solutions, building analytics systems, and working with big data and streaming data.
Professional experience with practical machine learning experience or relevant academic lab work.
Hands-on relevant experience in generative AI, large language models, and/or agentic systems.
Fundamental understanding of mathematical and machine learning concepts.
Applied statistics experience.
Experience developing machine learning solutions, preferably in Python.
Ability to produce compelling data visualizations to convey results.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
US citizenship and willingness and ability to maintain a US Security Clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, or a STEM-related field.
