Job Description
A Data Scientist at Esri will develop and implement machine learning and data analytics solutions to address customer challenges, leveraging spatial data and GIS workflows, with a focus on AI, big data, and geospatial machine learning techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with customers to understand their needs
- Develop and pitch data science solutions using machine learning and advanced analytics
- Build analytics systems to solve business problems with data mining, statistics, and machine learning techniques
- Write clean, collaborative, version-controlled code for processing big and streaming data
- Perform feature engineering, model selection, and hyperparameter tuning for high predictive accuracy
- Deploy machine learning models to production environments in cloud, on-premises, or hybrid setups
- Implement geospatial machine learning best practices and develop reusable technical components
Requirements
- At least 1 year of professional experience in a similar position supporting similar responsibilities.
- Professional experience with practical machine learning experience or relevant academic lab work.
- Hands-on relevant experience in generative AI, large language models, and or agentic systems.
- Fundamental understanding of mathematical and machine learning concepts.
- Applied statistics experience.
- Experience developing machine learning solutions, preferably in Python.
- Ability to produce compelling data visualizations to convey results.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- U.S. citizenship and willingness and ability to maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, or a STEM related field.
