Job Description

The position involves developing and maintaining raster analysis tools for GIS applications, focusing on spatial analysis, cloud computing, and software engineering to support real-world geographic and environmental problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and debug raster analysis software tools
  • Develop and maintain GIS analysis tools for various application areas
  • Collaborate with team to define new GIS tools based on user requirements
  • Analyze and fix software bugs and performance issues
  • Implement software components following industry-standard design patterns

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in C programming language.
  • Knowledge of distributed, parallel, GPU accelerated computation.
  • Familiarity with SaaS architecture.
  • Understanding of interaction between desktop and server online cloud-based analysis, including concepts such as REST, web services, and Kubernetes.
  • Bachelor's degree in applied mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, computer science, or geography.
  • Ability to write, build, test, and debug code.
  • Ability to design and implement software components that follow industry-standard design patterns.
  • Ability to find, analyze, and fix software bugs and performance problems using automated test frameworks.
  • Experience developing and maintaining tools in GIS application areas such as statistical analysis, surface analysis, terrain intervisibility, surface properties, suitability analysis, hydrology, multidimensional scientific data support and analysis, and spatial analysis on networks.
  • Experience collaborating with a team to envision and define new GIS tools based on user requirements, including statistical analysis tools for local, focal, and zonal operations, climate risk analysis, fire flood modeling, coastal erosion, pipeline burst, large event evacuation planning, and other geographic-related risk analysis.
  • Understanding of machine learning as a tool for prediction and classification as required by various application areas.
