Job Description
This role involves evaluating and testing the accessibility of Esri's ArcGIS products, developing accessibility reports, and promoting best practices across software development to ensure inclusive GIS solutions for diverse users.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate accessibility evaluations of ArcGIS products, including desktop software like ArcGIS Pro.
- Conduct manual and automated accessibility testing to identify issues and collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
- Create and maintain Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) based on VPATs, detailing product accessibility features and conformance levels.
- Advance and influence accessibility testing strategies across web, desktop, and mobile platforms.
- Partner with designers, engineers, and product managers to embed accessibility considerations throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Develop and maintain testing environments and infrastructure, including UI unit testing and certification processes across various operating systems.
- Maintain and update internal accessibility resources, training materials, and tools.
- Coordinate and conduct internal accessibility testing events and promote accessibility awareness within the organization.
- Engage with the global community by presenting at events, authoring blogs, and developing accessibility resources.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in accessibility testing, evaluation, or related fields.
- Familiarity with current global accessibility standards and guidelines such as WCAG and Revised Section 508.
- Experience with accessibility testing best practices on at least one software platform such as web, desktop, or mobile (Android or iOS).
- Experience with manual and automated accessibility evaluation using testing tools and assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, and automated web scanning tools.
- Experience creating or contributing to Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) and/or working with Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, user experience, or a related field.
