Job Description

The position involves providing technical support in research projects related to environmental science, including developing measurement methods, analyzing emissions, and conducting atmospheric and biological studies, primarily for the U.S. EPA. It offers hands-on experience in laboratory and field research, working closely with senior professionals to design, develop, and optimize solutions in a multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in the development, design, and execution of research projects for the EPA Office of Research and Development.
  • Assist in developing and validating measurement methods, source emission characterization, and data collection in atmospheric sciences and related fields.
  • Support research activities in laboratories and machine shops, including fabrication, metrology, and microbiological labs.
  • Contribute to designing, developing, and optimizing solutions for technical projects.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to contribute to work plans, quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), health and safety plans, and project reports.

  • The candidate must have the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • The candidate must be highly motivated and enthusiastic.
  • The candidate must have a strong technical background relevant to engineering, science, or related fields.
  • The candidate must have the ability to work effectively across teams to drive innovation.
  • The candidate must have a relevant educational background, such as recent graduates or early-career professionals, indicating at least a foundational level of education in a related technical field.
  • The candidate must be willing to contribute to work plans, quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), health and safety plans, and project reports.
  • The candidate must be able to perform research activities including decontamination and consequence management studies, development and validation of measurement methods, source emission characterization, and data collection research in atmospheric sciences, physical, chemical, biological, toxicological, and human and ecological exposure development.
  • The candidate must have the ability to design, develop, and optimize solutions while executing technical projects.
  • The candidate must be able to work in specialized laboratories and machine shops, including fabrication machine shops, metrology laboratories, and analytical and microbiological labs.
  • The candidate must be capable of collaborating with senior staff and contributing to project documentation and reports.
  • The candidate must be able to work in environments that may include specialized laboratories, fabrication shops, and analytical labs.
  • The candidate must be able to meet the physical demands of working in laboratory and machine shop environments, which may include handling equipment and materials in such settings.
