Job Description
The Woodyard Utility Operator at Enviva is responsible for operating heavy equipment, maintaining woodyard machinery, and ensuring safe and efficient wood pellet production in a challenging outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including skid steer, forklift, lull, and front-end loaders in the woodyard
- Inspect and perform basic maintenance on woodyard equipment
- Manage scale house operations
- Perform debarking and chipper knife changes
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in the woodyard
- Provide coverage for team members during absences and work flexible shifts
Requirements
- Experience with heavy equipment operation and the ability to safely and efficiently perform all essential functions of the job.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
- Ability to operate equipment such as skid steer, forklift, lull, and front-end loaders in a timely and safe manner.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Willing and able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift schedules.
- Willing and able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day.
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
- Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform tasks consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
