The Woodyard Utility Operator at Enviva is responsible for operating heavy equipment, maintaining woodyard machinery, and ensuring safe and efficient wood pellet production in a challenging outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment including skid steer, forklift, lull, and front-end loaders in the woodyard
Inspect and perform basic maintenance on woodyard equipment
Manage scale house operations
Perform debarking and chipper knife changes
Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in the woodyard
Provide coverage for team members during absences and work flexible shifts
Requirements
Experience with heavy equipment operation and the ability to safely and efficiently perform all essential functions of the job.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
Ability to operate equipment such as skid steer, forklift, lull, and front-end loaders in a timely and safe manner.
High school diploma or GED.
Willing and able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift schedules.
Willing and able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day.
Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to perform tasks consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
