Job Description
The Utility Operator is responsible for the continuous and safe operation of port equipment, monitoring, maintenance, and supporting various departments to ensure efficient handling of sustainable wood pellets at a fast-growing renewable energy company.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mobile equipment such as Bobcat and Lull to move dust collection bags
- Receive pellets and record data accurately
- Collect samples, test finished goods, and record data
- Monitor and operate equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform basic maintenance to keep equipment in good working order
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards in the work area
- Follow all safety procedures and wear safety equipment
- Escalate operational issues to the team as necessary
Requirements
- Responsible for all aspects of continuous operation of the port including safety, equipment operation, monitoring, machine set up, and cleaning.
- Follow all workplace and job safety procedures.
- Keep area clean of accumulated dust and keep area generally neat and orderly to meet housekeeping standards.
- Operate mobile equipment such as Bobcat, Lull, etc. to move dust collection bags.
- Receive pellets and record data accurately.
- Collect samples, test finished goods, and record data accurately.
- Communicate to Operations team escalating issues as necessary.
- Perform basic maintenance to keep equipment in clean, good working order.
- Knowledgeable and experienced with heavy equipment operation.
- Able to safely and efficiently perform all essential functions of the job.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
- Ability to operate the machine in a timely and safe manner.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day.
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
- Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
