Job Description
The Utility Operator is responsible for the continuous and safe operation of port equipment, monitoring, and maintenance tasks, while supporting various departments to ensure efficient port operations and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mobile equipment such as Bobcat and Lull to move dust collection bags
- Receive pellets and accurately record data
- Collect samples, test finished goods, and record data
- Monitor and operate equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform basic maintenance to keep equipment in good working order
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the work area
- Follow all safety procedures and wear safety equipment
- Escalate operational issues to the team as necessary
Requirements
- Experience with heavy equipment operation and the ability to operate mobile equipment such as Bobcat, Lull, etc.
- Ability to follow all workplace and job safety procedures and wear safety equipment as required.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
- Willing and able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day.
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
- Willing and able to lift and pull up to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
- Ability to perform all essential functions of the job safely and efficiently.
- Ability to maintain proper paperwork and record data accurately.
- Ability to collect samples, test finished goods, and record data accurately.
- Ability to communicate issues to the Operations team and escalate as necessary.
- Basic maintenance skills to keep equipment in clean, good working order.
- Knowledgeable and experienced with heavy equipment operation.
- A quick learner with the ability to work with little to no supervision.
