Job Description
The Utility Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of port equipment in a renewable energy company specializing in sustainable wood bioenergy solutions, working primarily outdoors in various environmental conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mobile equipment such as skid steer, forklift, lull, and front-end loaders
- Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance
- Perform daily preventative maintenance and cleaning activities on emissions equipment and tooling
- Monitor and oversee the continuous operation of port activities
- Follow safety protocols and wear safety equipment at all times
Requirements
- Operate mobile equipment including skid steer, forklift, lull, and front-end loaders with knowledge and experience in heavy equipment operation.
- Inspect equipment daily and perform basic maintenance to keep equipment in clean, good working order.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment and standard work cleaning activities such as cleaning emissions equipment strainers, tooling changes, housekeeping, and wash downs.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
- Safely and efficiently perform all essential functions of the job, including operating machines in a timely and safe manner.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Willing and able to work in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments while maintaining strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift schedules.
- Willing and able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to 12 hours a day.
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
- Willing and able to lift and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
