The staff accountant supports monthly accounting and finance activities at a renewable energy plant, including financial close, reconciliations, budgeting, accounts payable, and inventory management, to improve operational efficiency and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation during monthly financial close
Perform balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with forecasts and annual budget preparation
Receive, reconcile, and process invoices and purchase orders
Ensure compliance with financial policies and proper coding of transactions
Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies
Maintain documentation and filing for invoices and payments
Conduct weekly and monthly inventories of raw materials, spare parts, and consumables
Account for finished goods inventory shipped from the plant
Monitor and reconcile plant load-out activities with port records
Requirements
At least 2-4 years relevant accounting experience
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, Finance, or related quantitative field
Experience processing a high volume of invoices and/or purchase orders
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Ability to follow up on pending issues and meet tight deadlines
Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work activities, manage time efficiently, and follow policies and procedures
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar ERP system
Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial data
Willing and able to work in an industrial environment
Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment as needed
Minimal travel may be required to other Enviva plant locations
