Job Description
The staff accountant supports monthly accounting and finance activities at a renewable energy plant, including financial close, reconciliations, inventory management, and accounts payable, to improve operational efficiency and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and support documentation during monthly financial close
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and financial forecasts
- Process and reconcile invoices, ensuring proper approval and coding
- Obtain approval for invoices without purchase requisitions or purchase orders
- Track and record sales tax and ensure compliance with financial policies
- Maintain and reconcile inventory records, including raw materials and finished goods
- Monitor plant load-out activities and ensure accurate recording of shipments
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory and invoicing
Requirements
- At least 2-4 years relevant accounting experience
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, Finance, or related quantitative field
- Experience processing a high volume of invoices and/or purchase orders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar ERP system
- Ability to follow up on pending issues and meet tight deadlines
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to plan and organize work activities, manage time efficiently, and follow policies and procedures
- Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial data
- Willing and able to work in an industrial environment and adhere to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment as needed
- Willing and able to travel minimally to other Enviva plant locations
