Job Description
The Senior Accountant at Enviva is responsible for managing corporate accounting activities, financial reporting, and process improvements to ensure accurate financial operations and compliance within a renewable energy company specializing in sustainable wood bioenergy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries and supporting documents for monthly financial close
- Manage lease accounting activities, including maintaining lease schedules and completing related journal entries and reconciliations
- Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions and activities
- Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations monthly
- Compile and analyze monthly financial reports and company performance data
- Conduct analytical reviews during month-end and quarter-end closing processes
- Assess and improve accounting processes for efficiency and accuracy
- Develop and implement procedures to enhance financial reporting and operational controls
Requirements
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance required
- 3-6 years of experience required
- Minimum of 1-2 years of public accounting experience preferred
- Strong financial reporting and accounting skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff
- Strong problem solving and analytical abilities
- Organized with attention to detail
- Organized and efficient
- Motivated self-starter that is comfortable working in unstructured environment
