Job Description
The Scale House Attendant Operator is responsible for inspecting, weighing, and processing loads at a renewable energy facility, ensuring safety and accuracy while serving as the first point of contact for customers and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial inspection of loads and ensure quality criteria are met
- Weigh incoming trucks, issue receipt tickets, and re-weigh trucks upon exit for accurate billing
- Ensure safety of the scale area and compliance with safety criteria for loads
- Maintain cleanliness of the scale and ramps
- Communicate professionally with suppliers and assist drivers with scaling system and safety protocols
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to use a touch-screen computer
- Experience in the wood industry
- At least 1 year of manufacturing industrial experience
- Prior industrial safety knowledge, OSHA training, or similar safety training
- Willingness to cross train
- Willingness to work overtime to fill in for other scale house operators
- Ability to identify logs, hardwood chips, softwood chips, and other wood products
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
- Willing and able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
