Job Description

The Quality Technician is responsible for sampling and testing raw materials, in-process, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards, using electronic systems for data recording, investigating quality issues, and maintaining safety and equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sample and test raw materials, in-process materials, finished goods, and environmental samples to ensure quality standards are met
  • Maintain accurate records of testing results using electronic systems and databases
  • Investigate quality issues and propose solutions or improvements
  • Perform special-project tests to identify sources of quality problems or evaluate potential solutions
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping in the laboratory
  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment as necessary

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of experience working in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel Spreadsheets, Outlook Emailing, and experience with other databases.
  • Ability to conduct sampling and testing of raw materials, in-process materials, finished goods, and environmental samples daily, measuring quality to client specifications.
  • Ability to follow proper workflow procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to investigate solutions to quality issues and propose test ideas for quality improvements.
  • Ability to perform occasional special-projects tests to investigate the source of quality issues or study potential quality solutions.
  • Understanding and following all safety procedures.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping practices.
  • Maintaining lab equipment and ensuring timely calibration as necessary.
  • Willing and able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day.
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
  • Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
  • Willing and able to travel from time to time for training or other work-related assignments.
