Job Description

The Plant Manager will oversee the overall operations of a manufacturing facility, ensuring safety, efficiency, and productivity while managing staff, budgets, and compliance in a sustainable wood bioenergy production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and optimize daily plant operations
  • Maintain a safe work environment complying with OSHA and other regulations
  • Develop systems to track productivity, performance metrics, and standards
  • Manage the plant budget and financial performance, including capital spending
  • Increase production capacity and efficiency while controlling costs
  • Allocate resources effectively to maximize asset utilization
  • Implement strategic initiatives aligned with company objectives
  • Monitor and adjust operational costs to stay within budgets
  • Recruit, manage, and develop plant staff through coaching and training

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive operations management experience in manufacturing plant operations in a 24/7 operating environment with direct responsibility for safety, environmental compliance, quality, reliability, production, and financial results.
  • Strong knowledge of business and management principles including budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and human resources.
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze, and interpret large amounts of data including pressures, temperatures, material flow rates, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite as well as other applications.
  • Must be able to analyze financial and cost data and develop conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong team building, decision-making, and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders in a wide range of environmental conditions including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
