Job Description

The Plant Controller is responsible for managing financial control, reporting, and analysis of plant operations, including budgeting, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage financial control and reporting for all plant operations
  • Lead financial analysis and decision support to improve profit margins
  • Oversee month-end close processes, including reconciliations and financial statement reporting
  • Develop operational metrics and KPIs for weekly and monthly reporting
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies and coordinate annual budgeting and forecasting
  • Monitor and account for capital projects, fixed assets, and inventory
  • Manage plant procurement and oversee inventory cycle from raw materials to finished goods
  • Identify and record accruals, prepaid expenses, and variances during month-end close
  • Prepare and file state and local tax returns, including sales and use taxes
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and maintain proper documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related quantitative field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing organization, with previous plant controllership experience highly preferred
  • Proven ability to manage and lead direct reports
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to follow up on pending issues and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to drive business operating results
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Expert knowledge of Excel, Word, and accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar ERP system
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work activities, manage time efficiently, and follow policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial data
  • Willing and able to work in an industrial environment and adhere to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment as needed
  • Willing and able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
  • Willing and able to lift and pull up to 50 lbs
