Job Description
The Controller will oversee financial control, reporting, and analysis for plant operations within a renewable energy company, ensuring accurate financial management, compliance, and supporting operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage financial control and reporting for all plant operations
- Provide financial leadership and analysis to improve profit margins
- Oversee month-end close processes, including account reconciliations and financial statement reporting
- Develop and track financial and operational key performance indicators
- Monitor and report on capital projects and budget projections
- Manage inventory cycle from raw materials to finished goods storage
- Oversee plant procurement and control liabilities upon receipt of goods or services
- Identify and record accruals, prepaid expenses, capital purchases, and variances
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies in collaboration with corporate finance
- Lead cost reduction and cost avoidance initiatives and report savings
- Coordinate annual budgeting and monthly/quarterly revenue and profitability forecasts
- Prepare and coordinate filing of state and local tax returns
- Monitor compliance with business licenses and registrations
- Provide leadership on special projects
Requirements
- B.A. B.S. in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing organization
- Previous plant controllership experience highly preferred
- Ability to drive business operating results
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff
- Strong analytical abilities, organized with attention to detail
- Motivated self-starter
- Comfortable working in unstructured environment
- Expert knowledge of Excel, Word and accounting systems is required
