This position involves supervising port operations related to the loading and unloading of vessels, ensuring safety and efficiency, troubleshooting equipment, and managing shift schedules in a maritime industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, train, and coach employees to meet safety, productivity, quality, and efficiency goals
Manage shift schedules, including workstation assignments, training, vacations, breaks, and overtime
Coordinate vessel loading processes and communicate with third-party vendors and inspectors
Identify and resolve operational challenges, troubleshoot equipment issues, and escalate problems as needed
Operate mobile equipment within storage domes and on vessels
Perform basic troubleshooting of control systems and machinery
Conduct housekeeping audits to maintain safety and cleanliness standards
Communicate operational issues to the team and escalate when necessary
Requirements
Supervise, train and coach employees to accomplish safety, productivity, quality and efficiency objectives.
Follow all workplace and job safety procedures.
Responsible for shift schedule including workstation assignment rotations, employee training, vacation, breaks, overtime assignments, and acting as backup for absent employees.
Coordinate vessel loading during the loading process, conduct shift meetings, and communicate with third-party vendors including ship captains and third-party inspectors.
Identify and help resolve operational challenges including corrective action and troubleshooting to improve reliability of equipment, and escalate issues promptly for proper resolution.
Operate mobile equipment including inside the storage domes and on vessels.
Troubleshoot basic control systems and be familiar with basic machinery functions.
Perform housekeeping audits.
Communicate to Operations team, escalating issues as necessary.
Must have supervisor experience or equivalent experience at port operation.
Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to independently manage priorities and schedule to meet deadlines.
Able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
