The Pellet Mill Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting pellet mill equipment to ensure high-quality, efficient production of sustainable wood pellets, while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain pellet mills to ensure optimal feed rates and pellet quality
Adjust machine components such as rolls and dies to regulate speed, pressure, and temperature
Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot malfunctions
Conduct quality control testing, including ash tests
Perform inspections and maintain equipment in good condition
Review work order specifications and follow procedures for pellet production
Perform maintenance and coordinate repairs on equipment
Ensure production meets quality and safety standards
Maintain a clean work environment and adhere to safety procedures
Document inspections, maintenance, and operational data accurately
Requirements
Operate and maintain several pellet mills, ensuring optimal feed rates, adjusting rolls dies, and monitoring pellet quality to meet company standards.
Assist in conducting quality control (QC) testing, including performing ash tests.
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform coordinate maintenance on equipment per job instructions.
Perform and document required inspections of equipment and maintain equipment in good condition.
Review work order specifications or instructions to determine materials, ingredients, procedures, extracting, forming, pressing, and compacting materials to produce pellets.
Adjust machine components to regulate speed, pressure, and temperatures of the machine, as well as the amount, dimensions, and flow of materials and ingredients.
Monitor machine operations by observing indicator lights and gauges, such as thermometers, voltage meters, and timers, to detect malfunctions.
Perform coordinate housekeeping to required standards and maintain a clean work environment.
Maintain consistent production quality to the required standard.
Follow all workplace and job safety procedures.
Complete accurate reporting as required and communicate operational information as needed.
Enter maintenance work requests as applicable and escalate issues promptly for proper resolution.
