The Assistant Shift Supervisor supports daily operations at a wood pellet manufacturing facility, assisting with production goals, safety, training, and maintaining quality standards in a challenging industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support shift supervisor and ensure team meets production goals
Assist in day-to-day operations across all areas
Fill in for absent personnel and train new hires
Back up team leader in pellet mill and hammermill operations
Monitor daily shift testing and communicate results
Maintain 5S procedures and housekeeping standards
Coordinate safety and housekeeping audits
Escalate operational issues promptly
Requirements
Must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude
Ability to develop and maintain accurate records
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job descriptions
Proficient in mathematics and measurements
High School degree or equivalent
Must be available to work any shift any day, with required overtime being frequent
Must be able to work in environments that reach temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
Able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
Able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
Climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces on an occasional basis up to 100 ft
Must be able to push, pull and lift items up to 50 lbs
Able to frequently walk or stand and to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift items above shoulders on an occasional basis
Must use required provided PPE such as safety glasses, hard hat, steel toe boots, and hearing protection
