Job Description

The Mobile Equipment Operator at Enviva is responsible for safely operating heavy industrial equipment to manage the movement of raw materials and finished products in a wood bioenergy production environment, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy industrial equipment such as front-end loaders, clamp forks, and forest machine track loaders to unload logs and load production equipment.
  • Inspect equipment regularly and report any unsafe or improperly functioning machinery.
  • Understand and manage feed mix, mix piles, and targets for processing different fiber types.
  • Perform daily checks and basic maintenance on equipment, including cleaning and greasing.
  • Monitor and adjust control room parameters to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork related to operations.
  • Perform daily housekeeping to keep work area clean and safe.

Requirements

  • Internal company certification required.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
  • Proficiency in mathematics and measurement.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Willing and able to operate heavy material moving equipment requiring extended periods of sitting.
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as occasionally pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Willing and able to walk, climb, stoop, and stand.
  • Ability to operate levers with both hands while seated for long periods.
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
  • Willing and able to climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces up to 50 feet on an occasional basis during each shift.
  • Willing and able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees, in all weather conditions.
  • Willing and able to perform daily housekeeping duties of work area to keep it up to company standards.
  • Willing and able to perform other duties assigned for the job.
  • Willing and able to adhere strictly to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting items above shoulders occasionally.
  • Ability to monitor and adjust wood yard control room operating parameters to ensure safety, quality, and productivity targets.
  • Ability to perform daily checks and basic maintenance, including blowing, washing, and greasing equipment.
  • Ability to inspect equipment and report potentially unsafe or improperly operating equipment.
  • Ability to operate equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures and safety quality standards.
