Job Description
The position involves leading and managing a maintenance team in a manufacturing environment to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement maintenance methods to reduce downtime, supply chain losses, and operating costs while optimizing technician and asset utilization.
- Partner with manufacturing teams to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Provide technical expertise to increase machine reliability, reduce breakdowns, and improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
- Manage, coach, and hold maintenance staff accountable for safety, quality, and production goals.
- Coordinate response to unexpected breakdowns to minimize production disruptions.
- Train new employees on safety, maintenance procedures, and equipment operation, ensuring completion of certifications.
- Review work backlog, schedule daily tasks, and collaborate with other managers to ensure efficient work execution.
- Lead shift handover meetings to communicate safety issues, schedule updates, and production performance.
- Communicate daily results and priorities to plant management during morning meetings.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, operational standards, and maintenance procedures.
- Oversee operation and maintenance of plant equipment such as air compressors, boilers, and HVAC systems.
- Enter work requests for emergency breakdowns and equipment issues into the asset management system.
- Manage spare parts inventory, storage, and distribution for maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with team members to control maintenance costs and optimize purchasing practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering or related discipline, with 5 years of supervisory experience delivering reliability improvements in a fast-changing manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of 7 years of experience, education, and certifications.
- Experience managing maintenance teams and supporting autonomous manufacturing teams as they deliver continuous improvements.
- Experience managing Preventative Maintenance (P.M.) practices.
- Proven track record coaching, mentoring, motivating, and managing employees' skills development.
- Demonstrated experience proactively leading and coaching teams to solve problems, utilizing automatic line monitoring and other reliability improvement processes.
- Experience setting business targets to drive and sustain continuous loss reductions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills.
- Applied working knowledge of time, condition, and predictive-based maintenance processes.
- Experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Pillars - Autonomous and Effective Maintenance in a process environment.
- Working knowledge of Analytical Process Mapping.
- Ability to work in environments that reach temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees, including hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments.
- Ability to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overnight to address unexpected site issues.
- Ability to work on call on nights and weekends as needed.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, crawling, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day.
- Ability to lift and pull up to 50 lbs safely.
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA.
