Job Description

This position involves overseeing and assisting with the receiving of wood pellets, ensuring safety, quality, and operational efficiency, while leading and training team members in various tasks related to port operations and equipment handling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assign, distribute, and monitor work of receiving operators
  • Verify completion and accuracy of paperwork and procedures
  • Coordinate work assignments and communicate with supervisors
  • Assist in training employees on quality, rail truck receiving, and related tasks
  • Complete Leader Standard Work and shift changeover communications
  • Operate and assist with vessel loading and scale program operations
  • Receive pellets, record data for billing, and ensure safety and cleanliness of scale area
  • Collect samples, test finished goods, and maintain QA/QC records
  • Analyze equipment performance and quality results
  • Operate mobile equipment such as skid steer and telehandler
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and keep dust collection areas clean
  • Complete safety certifications and follow safety procedures
  • Enter maintenance work requests and escalate issues as needed

Requirements

  • Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required
  • High school diploma or able to complete GED requirements with six months of hire
  • Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions
  • Proficient in mathematics and measurement
  • Team player demonstrated with past work experience or activities
  • Complete safety certification as required for the position
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve hours a day
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
  • Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
