Job Description

The Receiving Operator at Enviva is responsible for maintaining port operations, including receiving wood pellets, ensuring safety and quality standards, coordinating team activities, and performing equipment and housekeeping tasks in a dynamic industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work assignments, schedule breaks, and verify paperwork accuracy
  • Receive pellets at the port, record data, and ensure safety and proper load criteria
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the scale area, ramps, and surrounding environment
  • Assist with vessel loading and operate shuttle wagons as directed
  • Collect samples, test finished goods, and maintain QA/QC records
  • Operate mobile equipment such as Bobcat and Lull for dust collection and area maintenance
  • Perform safety certifications, enter maintenance requests, and escalate issues as needed
  • Train employees on quality, rail truck receiving, and safety procedures
  • Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments to ensure throughput and quality
  • Perform general housekeeping and ensure a safe, orderly work environment

Requirements

  • High school diploma or able to complete GED requirements with six months of hire
  • Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions
  • Proficient in mathematics and measurement
  • Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
  • Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing and able to perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or quantitative productivity standards
  • Must complete safety certification as required for the position
  • Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
  • Willing and able to work in hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environments
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment PPE
