Job Description
The role involves supporting vessel operations, performing maintenance and troubleshooting of port equipment, ensuring safe vessel docking and loading, managing port receiving and quality testing of goods, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment in a maritime industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support vessel loading, docking, undocking, and mooring operations ensuring safety and efficiency
- Perform preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance on servicing equipment
- Operate heavy equipment such as cranes and ship loaders during vessel and port operations
- Manage barge loading and system setup for limestone and receive pellets, ensuring accurate data recording
- Collect samples and test finished goods, maintaining QA/QC records and following quality procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas, including dust collection and equipment operation
- Ensure safety protocols are followed, including working in various environmental conditions and heights
Requirements
- Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required
- Certified to operate heavy equipment
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions
- Proficient in mathematics and measurement
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
- Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Must demonstrate ability to operate vessel loading equipment, crane, ship loader, and mobile equipment such as Bobcat and Lull
- Experience or demonstrated ability to perform preventative, predictive, and proactive maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, and servicing equipment
- Experience or demonstrated ability to control room operations to ensure vessel is loading correctly, including load rate, gate control, and fine mitigation
- Experience or demonstrated ability to operate vessel docking, undocking, and mooring processes safely
- Experience or demonstrated ability to perform line handling during docking and undocking, including pulling, cleating, and managing lines
- Experience or demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment on vessels and complete barge loading system setup for limestone
- Experience or demonstrated ability to receive pellets into the port, record data for accurate billing, and ensure safety of scale area and loads meet safety criteria
- Experience or demonstrated ability to collect samples, test finished goods delivered by truck or rail, and maintain QA/QC records following Quality Standard Operating Procedures
- Ability to keep work area neat and orderly, operate mobile equipment such as Bobcat and Lull to move dust collection bags, and keep area free of debris
- Willing and able to work outdoors in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees, and in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments
- Willing and able to wear safety equipment and strictly adhere to safety rules and regulations
- Willing and able to work in high places in excess of 175 feet, use man lifts, and work in confined spaces
