Job Description

The position involves supporting vessel operations, port receiving, quality control, maintenance, and housekeeping tasks within a renewable energy company focused on sustainable wood bioenergy solutions, requiring mechanical aptitude, safety adherence, and the ability to work in outdoor industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance on servicing equipment at ports
  • Troubleshoot and service port equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Ensure safe docking, undocking, and mooring of vessels
  • Operate vessel loading equipment, cranes, and ship loaders
  • Manage barge loading and system setup for limestone
  • Receive, record, and verify pellet shipments at ports
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of port areas, including scales and ramps
  • Operate shuttle wagons and mobile equipment as directed
  • Collect samples, test finished goods, and maintain QA/QC records
  • Analyze equipment performance and make adjustments to optimize throughput and quality

Requirements

  • High school diploma or able to complete GED requirements with six months of hire
  • Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions
  • Proficient in mathematics and measurement
  • Team player demonstrated with past work experience or activities
  • Ability to work multiple shift schedules to support 24x7 operations
  • Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
  • Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
