Job Description

This role involves leading environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives at a manufacturing plant, including hazard mitigation, safety training, compliance audits, incident investigations, and promoting a safety-first culture to achieve zero incidents.

Key Responsibilities

Identify workplace hazards and collaborate with plant staff to mitigate them
Work with Plant Manager to understand company needs and safety goals
Provide safety training to employees, contractors, and vendors
Lead Safety Committee meetings
Perform EH S compliance audits and assessments of facilities and contractor activities
Communicate with contractor teams to develop documented safe work plans
Document assessment findings, observations, and recommendations promptly
Investigate health and safety incidents, including root cause analysis
Implement safe work practices to achieve zero incidents and accidents
Ensure compliance of work practices with regulatory agencies and company standards
Provide technical expertise in safety-related regulatory topics and standards

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience leading Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) in a manufacturing setting.
Ability to identify workplace hazards and work with plant staff to mitigate and abate these hazards.
Ability to work closely with the Plant Manager to understand company needs and mission.
Ability to influence Plant Manager, supervisors, and team leaders to lead with safety.
Provide EHS training to all employees, contractors, and vendors as required.
Lead Safety Committee meetings.
Lead the location's Emergency Response Team.
Perform EHS compliance audits and assessments of the facility and contractor work activities.
Effectively communicate with contractor teams to create a documented safe work plan.
Provide prompt documentation of assessment findings, observations, and recommendations.
Conduct investigations of Health and Safety incidents, including root cause analysis.
Implement safe work practices and behaviors to achieve zero incidents and accidents TIR.
Ensure employees, contractors, and vendors' work practices are in regulatory compliance with applicable regulatory agencies, as well as with company standards and policies.
Provide subject matter expertise in technical areas including OSHA, EPA, NFPA, NEC, NIOSH, ANSI, and ASTM.
Hold previous certification in the following regulatory topics: Combustible Dust Accident Prevention, First Aid, CPR, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, Confined Space, Lockout, Electrical Safety, Emergency Response, Fire Prevention, Hazard Communication, Material Handling, Hearing Conservation, OSHA Recordkeeping, Personal Protective Equipment, Power Tool Use and Guarding, Respiratory Protection, Crane Hoist Rigging Safety, Welding Hot Work, Incident Investigation, Working from Heights, Working and Walking Surfaces.
Preferred qualifications include OSHA 30 Hour-General Industry, OSHA 30 Hour-Construction, NFPA 70e, Root Cause Analysis, Cause Mapping, Taproot, etc., and experience in leading culture change.
Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
Willing and able to work in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments.
Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
