Job Description
The Control Room Operator at Enviva is responsible for monitoring and managing plant systems to ensure safe and efficient operation, responding to alarms, and maintaining production processes. This role requires technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate plant functions from the control room
- Manage chip feed system, fuel feed system, furnace, dryer system, and pellet presses
- Monitor production rates and system statuses
- Manage and monitor various levels and feed rates for continuous operation
- Translate signals into production adjustments
- Maintain working schedules, equipment temperature, and safety standards
- Assess and resolve potential malfunctions and equipment failures
- Communicate with team members and respond to assistance calls
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and written procedures.
- Must possess basic computer math skills.
- Ability to work shift assignments up to 12 hours that include weekends, nights or rotating shifts.
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day.
- Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or quantitative productivity standards.
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.
- Willing and able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment.
- Willing and able to walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong aptitude in math ability to use addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to perform flow, pressure, performance and meter calculations.
- Prior experience working in a Control Room.
