Job Description

The job involves safely and efficiently loading and handling bulk cargo onto vessels using heavy equipment, while adhering to safety regulations and maintaining accurate records of cargo. The position requires working in various outdoor conditions and may involve operating in high places and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and efficient loading and handling of bulk cargo onto vessels
  • Operate heavy equipment including loaders, cranes, and ship loaders
  • Follow workplace and job safety procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of cargo handled, including weights and measurements
  • Understand and execute the load plan to meet customer satisfaction
  • Perform equipment inspections and rigging
  • Identify upset conditions or potential failure points
  • Assist maintenance with repairs and enter work orders
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas
  • Communicate effectively with the Operations team and ship crew

Requirements

  • Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage priorities and schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment.
  • Willing and able to maintain a strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and overnight to address unexpected site issues with or without notice.
  • Able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, crawling and pulling for up to twelve (12) hours per day.
  • Able to work in high places more than 175 feet, use man lifts and work in confined spaces.
  • Able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
  • Able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
