Job Description

The Assistant Shift Supervisor supports shift operations at a renewable energy company, ensuring production goals are met, maintaining safety and quality standards, and assisting with team training and coordination in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support shift supervisor and ensure team meets production goals
  • Assist in day-to-day operations across all areas and fill in for absent personnel
  • Train new hires as needed
  • Back up team leader in pellet mill and hammermill operations
  • Monitor daily shift testing and communicate results to team leader
  • Own and implement 5S procedures
  • Perform daily and weekly housekeeping to maintain safety and cleanliness standards
  • Escalate operational issues promptly for resolution

Requirements

  • Must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to develop and maintain accurate records
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job descriptions
  • Proficient in mathematics and measurements
  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Must be available to work any shift any day; required overtime is frequent
  • Must be able to work in environments that reach temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
  • Able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
  • Able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
  • Climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces on an occasional basis up to 100 ft
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift items up to 50 lbs
  • Able to frequently walk or stand and to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift items above shoulders on an occasional basis
  • Must use required provided PPE such as safety glasses, hard hat, steel toe boots, hearing protection
