Job Description
The Assistant Shift Supervisor supports shift operations at a renewable energy company, ensuring production goals are met, maintaining safety and quality standards, and assisting with team training and coordination in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support shift supervisor and ensure team meets production goals
- Assist in day-to-day operations across all areas and fill in for absent personnel
- Train new hires as needed
- Back up team leader in pellet mill and hammermill operations
- Monitor daily shift testing and communicate results to team leader
- Own and implement 5S procedures
- Perform daily and weekly housekeeping to maintain safety and cleanliness standards
- Escalate operational issues promptly for resolution
Requirements
- Must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude
- Ability to develop and maintain accurate records
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job descriptions
- Proficient in mathematics and measurements
- High School degree or equivalent
- Must be available to work any shift any day; required overtime is frequent
- Must be able to work in environments that reach temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
- Able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
- Able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
- Climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces on an occasional basis up to 100 ft
- Must be able to push, pull and lift items up to 50 lbs
- Able to frequently walk or stand and to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift items above shoulders on an occasional basis
- Must use required provided PPE such as safety glasses, hard hat, steel toe boots, hearing protection
